Annmarie
collapsed and died instantly from a massive rupture of
the cerebral artery on Tuesday June 5th in the middle
of the afternoon. We'd taken a break in the work we were
doing for Bentley Motors and Ferrari GB. I found her under
an Apple Tree in her beautiful garden with her dogs running
at her side, the birds singing and the sun beating down
on her cheeks. She would have suffered no pain and she
looked like she'd fallen asleep sunbathing.
The
burial of my wonderful wife, business partner, friend,
confidant, nurse, lover, cook, gardener and mother of
Amy Jo, Lizzie, Lucy and Hannah will take place at St
Bartholomew's Church, Tosside BD23 4SQ on Monday June
11th at 16:00.It is a beautiful small village church that
we'd both chosen for future weddings. The service will
be led by the right Rev Mark Russell-Smith. Refreshments
will be available at the Dog & Partridge (next door),
from 3pm, where everyone is requested to congregate before
the ceremony begins. Please bring an umbrella as the forecast
is sunshine and showers.
Afterwards
we will celebrate the extraordinary life of Annmarie Carlton
at Tosside Community Hall, where Annmarie and I did Yoga
every week, together. In order to do this we will be playing
and listening to her favourite music and eating some of
her favorite foods long into the evening .All flowers
at the Church will be from Annmarie's Garden and will
be returned after the ceremony. Most of Annmarie's favorite
plants were bought from Philip at Oaktree Nurseries in
Bolton- By - Bowland. If you would like to bring a gift
please bring: A yankee candle or some balloons or a homemade
cake. Alternatively you can make a donation to 'Epilepsy
Action ' or 'Epilepsy Action South Manchester Branch'
and post them c/o Annmarie's parents Peter and Andrea
at 7 Clarendon Road , Sale, M33 2DU.
There
is ample parking and those who fancy a leisurely drive
over can get refreshments all day at Gardenmakers [Tourist
signed from the A59 and 3 miles from the Church]. We have
arranged with Paul of Travel4All for a bus to collect
the 1300 dep Manchester Victoria to Clitheroe train 1415
arr. If you want to use this service please let Annmarie's
Mum know on the number below otherwise it will be cancelled.
The wonderful friends, neighbours and businesses of Tosside
and Bolton By Bowland will be offering hospitality and
accommodation and those wanting to stay over either the
night before or after should contact Annmarie's Mum Andrea
on 07850 064080.
Annmarie
wouldn't want anyone to wear black. Annmarie would want
you to sing your heart out in the church and to laugh
and cry and hug those that you love, all evening. Annmarie
will be in the Chapel of Rest at Brian Price of Chatburn,
Clitheroe over the weekend where anyone can go and talk
to her privately.

When
the Late Revd John Salisbury retired as Vicar of Tosside
in 1979, the Parish was linked to Long Preston under one
vicar living there.
A further reorganisation took place in 1997 when the Revd
Mark Russell-Smith in Slaidburn reduced his role with
Bradford Diocese and Long Preston with Tosside were joined
to Slaidburn. He is now helped by Revd. Rachel Wilson,
a part-time curate, who lives in Long Preston.
Though a small parish, Tosside still has a vital role.
It has:
| Population
- approx. 200 people |
| Area
- approx. 15 sq. miles from Halsteads to Coolams and
Brayshaw to Burn Ridge |
| Regular
worshippers - 13, or about 6.5% of the population |
| Two
buildings open daily at Tosside and Dalehead |
| Cared-for
and 'wild-life friendly' churchyards |
Availability
for Baptisms, Weddings &
Funerals as well as regular services |
